Thanks for visiting Laurie’s House. Every three years I enroll a new group of infants, between about 3 and 9 months old, and they stay together as a cohort until leaving for pre-school.
My goal is to provide the optimally stimulating and nurturing environment that a young child would encounter in a healthy home – ordinary reality, life in its goodness. I strive to welcome and include diverse families and to respect each child’s natural abilities and needs. We spend our days together in my small home, learning in the way that young children do: for example, playing with pots and pans, being read to, resolving conflicts and exploring.
I enjoy creating a small, stable community for children in their first years. This continuity of care allows me to develop close relationships with the families I work with, and children benefit from having a primary caregiver in a small group during their first years.
Laurie’s House has been a state-certified family child care home since 1993. I am located in close-in Southeast, near Cesar Chavez and Hawthorne Blvd. I’m open Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 to 5:30.
I will next have openings in September of 2020, when the tenth cohort will begin.
